Duration = 1:16 minutes.
JOHNSON: Percy Crawford preached at the first large Youth For Christ rally in this country!
HOLLINGER: Is that right? Where was that?
JOHNSON: That was Soldier Field, Chicago. I invited Percy Crawford to preach there that night. And he made a very significant statement. The morning afterward we had a sort of [pauses] analysis of what happened the night before.
HOLLINGER: Yes.
JOHNSON: There had been upwards of 70,000 people! Unbelievable that came to the meeting! And Percy pulled out of his pocket a little red thing that we used to call the Horton’s Gospel of John. The Horton’s Gospel of John was a Gospel of John with notes, showing how to be saved. And Percy said, “I always carry this little Horton’s Gospel of John in my pocket. I give to the elevator man on the hotel, I give it to somebody in the here and there.” He said, “Fellows, we had a big meeting yesterday. But don’t let those big meetings deprive you of one-on-one contact.” So Billy had....Percy had both.
HOLLINGER: Yes.
JOHNSTON: The one-on-one and the big campaigns.
HOLLINGER: Yes.
JOHNSTON: And what a job he did! He was a part of the inspiration of my life. |
